| Course Description |
Full-time students in the Intensive English Program
attend classes for a minimum of 21 hours per week. During the fall and spring
semesters, students follow the regular university calendar and schedule of Monday
/ Wednesday / Friday classes of 50 minutes or 1 hour and 50 minutes each and Tuesday
/ Thursday classes of 75 minutes each. | | Reading/Writing

To ensure placement of students at the appropriate level of the program, new students
take two tests:
1.Institutional TOEFL 2.Michigan
Placement Test New students will be placed according
to their test scores. |

Requirements for Entering West Virginia University |
Students entering West Virginia University directly from their home countries
must have a score of 550 on the TOEFL. However, students who have been enrolled
in the IEP for at least one semester as full-time students can be admitted with
the following scores:
Undergraduate Students must have a 500 (173 Computer/international) TOEFL
score with an overall GPA of 2.75 and good recommendations from the IEP, or a
550 TOEFL score.
Graduate Students must have a 530 (197 Computer/International)
TOEFL score with an overall GPA of 3.0 and good recommendations from the IEP,
or a 550 TOEFL score.
Note: A few university departments
require a score higher than 550 to meet requirments. Computer
